Inthe last blog topic about the new M-1, I mentioned that I had the Enfield No. 4MK2 that I was anxious to shoot. Well I took it uo to the range on Monday, Aug 13th. Shot 30 rounds from the bench, open sights. Results: 12 "X"'s (3"circle), (1-. 8 Fouling shot), 5 9's that almost were tens (7.5 In Circle, and the rest were 12 10's. This was an "as-issued" rifle, with nothing done to accurize it except move the front sight. All shots were at 100 meters. I didn't do any math, but I think that it out-shot the M-1.
The Mauser has such rotten sights that it is hard to zero. However, even though the group was not centered exactly (it was in the middle of the 10 ring on the right side, my spread out hand covered the group.
In summary, I's say that those WW2 rifles were all about the same, using the open sights. They are all fun toshoot. |
